A
Call to Holy Living “When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you,
be very careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations living
there. 10 For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt
offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery,
or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, 11 or cast spells, or function as
mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. 12 Anyone who does
these things is detestable to the Lord. It is because the other nations have
done these detestable things that the Lord your God will drive them out ahead
of you. 13 But you must be blameless before the Lord your God. 14 The nations
you are about to displace consult sorcerers and fortune-tellers, but the Lord
your God forbids you to do such things.” (Deuteronomy 18:9-14)
2
Kings 17:17 They even sacrificed their own sons and daughters in the fire. They
consulted fortune-tellers and practiced sorcery and sold themselves to evil,
arousing the Lord’s anger.
Micah
5:12 I will put an end to all witchcraft, and there will be no more
fortune-tellers.
Acts
19:18-20 Many who became believers confessed their sinful practices. 19 A
number of them who had been practicing sorcery brought their incantation books
and burned them at a public bonfire. The value of the books was several million
dollars. 20 So the message about the Lord spread widely and had a powerful
effect.
Galatians
5:19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very
clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery,
hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition,
dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like
these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of
life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Revelation
9:20 But the people who did not die in these plagues still refused to repent of
their evil deeds and turn to God. They continued to worship demons and idols made
of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood—idols that can neither see nor hear
nor walk! 21 And they did not repent of their murders or their witchcraft or
their sexual immorality or their thefts.
Revelation
21:5 And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything
new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is
trustworthy and true.” 6 And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and
the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely
from the springs of the water of life. 7 All who are victorious will inherit
all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.
8
“But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who
practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery
lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
22
I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its
temple. 23 And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God
illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light. 24 The nations will walk in
its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory.
25 Its gates will never be closed at the end of day because there is no night
there. 26 And all the nations will bring their glory and honor into the city.
27 Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful
idolatry and dishonesty—but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s
Book of Life.
